Authentic Mexican Street Tacos Arrive in San Antonio—Tacos On The Street Opens U.S. Flagship

Beloved Puerto Vallarta Taquería Brings Charcoal-Grilled Carne Asada to Stone Oak

San Antonio's vibrant culinary scene is about to welcome a new gem: Tacos On The Street, a renowned taquería from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, is set to open its first U.S. location in August at 22026 U.S. Highway 281 North, Suite #101, in the Stone Oak area.

Established in 1993 as a humble taco stand, Tacos On The Street has built a loyal following with its signature charcoal-grilled carne asada. Each taco features thinly shaved, high-quality beef, grilled over open flames and finished with a rich glaze, delivering deep flavor and crispy edges. These savory fillings are nestled in handmade tortillas, pressed daily from a custom blend of nixtamal masa and finely ground corn flour.

To complement the tacos, the menu offers a trio of house-made salsas: a creamy avocado verde, a bright tomato cruda, and a smoky, fire-roasted chile de árbol salsa for those seeking an extra kick. Patrons can also enjoy refreshing beverages like margaritas and the unique Jamaica Mezcalita, alongside select flavors from Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, marking the brand's debut in San Antonio.

The restaurant's interior pays homage to its Mexican roots while embracing its new Texan home. Designed by Joel Mozersky, known for his work on local favorites like Pullman Market and Brasserie Mon Chou Chou, the space features handcrafted ceramics from Guadalajara's Cerámica Suro and a vibrant mural by Irapuato-based artist Don Mos.

This artwork, under the creative direction of Guillermo Flores Pacheco, captures the tropical energy of Puerto Vallarta with elements like palm trees and jamaica flowers, symbolizing the fusion of coastal Mexican and San Antonio cultures.

Marketing Director Natalia Bustamante expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, stating, "San Antonio felt like the natural place to begin our growth in the U.S. It's a city that lives and breathes flavor, family, and culture—and that's exactly what defines us."

As San Antonio continues to be recognized for its exceptional taco offerings, with ten local spots recently highlighted among the best in Texas, the arrival of Tacos On The Street adds another authentic option for residents and visitors alike. The exact opening date and hours of operation will be announced in the coming weeks, promising an exciting addition to the city's rich tapestry of Mexican cuisine.
