Pee-wee Herman’s Iconic Big Adventure Bike Finds a New Home at The Alamo |
The legendary red-and-white bicycle from the 1985 film becomes a permanent exhibit at San Antonio's historic landmark. |
After four decades, the original stunt bicycle from the 1985 cult classic Pee-wee’s Big Adventure has found a permanent home at The Alamo in San Antonio, Texas.
This iconic red-and-white Schwinn, celebrated for its high handlebars and distinctive design, played a central role in Pee-wee Herman's quest to retrieve his stolen bike.
In a memorable scene, Pee-wee is misled to believe his bicycle is hidden in the Alamo's basement, only to discover that the historic site lacks one.
To commemorate the film's 40th anniversary, The Alamo has acquired this cherished piece of cinematic history.
Currently, the bike is showcased at the Ralston Family Collections Center for a limited time, allowing fans an early glimpse.
In Fall 2027, it will become a centerpiece in the Mays Family Legacy Gallery within the new Alamo Visitor Center and Museum.
This gallery aims to explore The Alamo's cultural impact, featuring memorabilia that have introduced the historic site to new generations.
In addition to the exhibit, The Alamo plans to host a free public screening of Pee-wee’s Big Adventure at the newly reopened Plaza de Valero.
Details regarding the screening and exhibit dates will be announced soon.
Fans are encouraged to follow The Alamo's official channels for updates.
While the new museum will feature a basement, the bike will be displayed above ground, continuing its role as a quirky yet iconic slice of pop culture linked to The Alamo.
As Dr. Kate Rogers, Executive Director of the Alamo Trust, Inc., stated, “This artifact perfectly illustrates how The Alamo lives on in pop culture, and soon, visitors to Texas' top tourist destination will be able to see it up close in our new world-class museum.”
