San Antonio Heavy-Metal Fans Honor Ozzy with Tribute Shows and Vinyl Frenzy

The Alamo City pays homage to the Prince of Darkness with concerts and record store rushes

San Antonio's heavy-metal community is uniting to celebrate the enduring legacy of Ozzy Osbourne, following his recent farewell performance.

Fans are reminiscing about the Prince of Darkness's storied history with the Alamo City—from headline tours at HemisFair Arena to his infamous 1982 arrest for urinating on the Alamo cenotaph and subsequent decade-long ban—before his 1992 return and $10,000 apology donation.

Local venues are hosting a series of tribute events. On August 2, The Rock Box will feature "THE CRUE and OZZMOSIS," a night dedicated to the music of Motley Crue and Ozzy Osbourne. Fans can expect high-energy performances that capture the essence of these rock legends.

Meanwhile, record shops are experiencing a surge in demand for Osbourne and Black Sabbath merchandise. At Hogwild Records, staff report T-shirts, vinyl reissues, and Alamo-themed memorabilia vanishing from shelves within hours—and anticipate reorders by week’s end despite tight wholesaler stock.

From candlelit sidewalk vigils beneath muraled walls to electric tribute concerts, San Antonio is proving once again why it proudly calls itself "the heavy-metal capital of the world."
