Belle Chasse standout chooses Bobcats over multiple offers |
Texas State University has significantly strengthened its 2026 recruiting class by securing a commitment from Savion Barthelemy, a 6-foot-3, 280-pound defensive lineman from Belle Chasse, Louisiana.
Barthelemy, who received his first FBS offer from the Bobcats in March, chose Texas State over offers from North Texas, Louisiana, and Troy.
His decision follows a summer of rising interest in his unique combination of size and athleticism.
In high school, Barthelemy showcased versatility by playing both tight end and defensive line, ultimately establishing himself on the defensive front.
His strength and adaptability have drawn significant attention from recruiters.
Head coach G.J. Kinne emphasized the program's upcoming move to the Pac-12 as a key recruiting advantage, offering prospects the opportunity to compete against top-tier opponents and represent a growing university on a larger stage.
With Barthelemy's commitment, Texas State's 2026 class now features 15 commitments and ranks 90th nationally in composite ratings, placing third in the Sun Belt Conference behind South Alabama and Appalachian State.
The Bobcats aim to translate this recruiting momentum into on-field success as they prepare to open the season on August 30 against Eastern Michigan.
Barthelemy's addition underscores Texas State's commitment to building depth on the defensive line and sets an encouraging tone for the program's next chapter. |
